YOU Parent a Kid With Sensory Issues

Every time that I start thinking to myself, "No things are getting better, she's improving in ways x, y, and z. Maybe it won't end up being an ASD after all", something happens with her and inside I know that she is markedly different. I can't parent her like I parent Scarlett, and in a much bigger way than "Not all kids are the same". Consequences don't seem to have an effect on her behavior. Scratch the word seem, they DON'T. And I am EXHAUSTED of hearing the same well intentioned verbage from family and friends, "Just be consistent, Jacque. You just need to establish a routine, just be firm, bla bla bla." Y'all mean well, but sometimes I feel like saying COME LIVE HERE. YOU try to impose a routine or consistency. And I will chuckle as you attempt to hang yourself after three hours.

I do love her.
So much.
I don't want her to be unhappy
I'm just exhausted, emotionally, today.

Anyone else parent a child or know someone who parents a child with a Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or Sleep Disorder?

Getting Ambitious

This may be a little ambitious for a bakery buffoon such as myself, but I really want to try making these candied violets to top Scarlett's birthday cupcakes.

This recipe from the Ciao Chow Linda Blog

I REALLY want to try it out, but I can see myself ordering these affordable beauties from the SweetPetalBakery Etsy shop. If I know myself at all.

Super Dad

I was just doing a few quick edits to our vacation photos to order prints and make an album and I came across this. I've been thinking a lot lately about how lucky the girls and I are to have such a committed Daddy in our lives. We are everything to him and he is everything to us. We have our scuffles with each other, but compared to how wonderful everything else is, they are small potatoes. We are truly
blessed.

We love you Super Dad.

Happy Easter?

A few weekends ago we set out to take some Easter themed pictures of the kids.
First to take some outside, then we wanted set up indoors and take some studio style pictures.
We ended up being outside for all of twenty minutes before Tenley's little outdoor adventures dictated we head inside to do -this- instead...

Celebrity NIP

Good for you, Maggie.

I know this picture is dated, but its one of my favorite paparazzi caught pictures of a celebrity.

cactus noodle

Almost walking completely.
So exciting and so scary.
A three year old and a mobile 11 months old.
Heaven help me.

Ps, "cactus noodle" is what Tenley has always called that fake saguaro in the children's area of the mall.

Daddy's Hands

This weeks photo challenge at

was "anything but a face".
I thought this would make a cute entry.

Since this little one was born she has always fallen asleep so easily in Daddy's arms, much more so than in mine or the arms of anyone else.

I love how she completely melts into him and just goes limp, the way her hand falls in this picture just warms me up inside.
